The Survey On Single People

The survey, which was carried out by Avvo, an online legal service company, on 2,000 U.S adults, concluded in a number of surprising findings regarding single people’s stance towards dating, relationships, and marriage. Let’s have a look at some of the most interesting among them.

Dating Data

It may come as a surprise that more single women than men are comfortable staying that way. Despite the social pressures being stronger for women to make a family and settle down, 60% of single women say that are not actively dating, as opposed to 43% of the men in the sample questioned. This means that an impressive 50% of the single participants in the survey aren’t dating.

Online Dating Success

Half of the survey participants who have ever dated online and are now in a relationship have found their current partner through online dating. This means that online dating actually works in helping form relationships that actually last.

Attitudes Towards Marriage

According to the survey, almost 70% of those asked said they believe that relationships are meant to last (76% of women and 61% of men), with close to 60% of them professing their belief in the institution of marriage. Women again outnumber men in their belief that the institution of marriage is not outdated, (63% and 53% respectively).

On the other hand, it seems that Americans are not fixated in getting married. A mere 19% of those questioned agreed that marriage should be a life goal for everyone, with American women presenting themselves to be even less fixated on the idea (18%) than their male compatriots (20%).

In Conclusion

All in all, it seems that single American women are generally more comfortable being alone than in the past, as they may believe in the institution of marriage but are in no hurry to find a partner. On the other hand, it is clear that more and more people are finding love through online dating, forming real relationships that last.
